ZILÁ PINTO SAID:

"I’m tired of your surprise when I say, “I don’t know how to samba (and in the end, I’m not obligated to)".

Unfortunately, the black woman continues to be the cheapest meat in the market, abused, violated, and discarded in the most perverse manner. Oblivious human beings are so conditioned to see us as that which serves to satisfy and entertain the “desire” of black men (capitão do mato [Br: overseer during slavery]), and white men (slaveowners) that it scares me. This becomes even more evident when one sees that in the senzala [ slave quarters] the black woman was much more than a body and a butt, and believe it or not, when the subject is musical taste, … you are “obliged” to like to samba and at minimum to be an Expert and to know how to shake your butt. I like the genre in question but, I’m not obliged to know how to samba, or even more, how to shake my butt.. Moreover, I’m not obliged to anything. #tired
